I am an experienced registered Counselling Therapist and Addiction Counsellor with a Master’s in Psychology. For over 35 years I’ve been helping individuals, couples, and families.
I provide personalized, evidence-based counselling therapy delivered in a compassionate and supportive manner. Clients can expect to engage with an empathetic listener who is committed to understanding your unique experiences and the various factors that have influenced your identity.
I approach is from a cognitive viewpoint. CBT, REBT, and other cognitive therapies are practical, short-term approaches that focus on your current concern. Cognitive therapies are goal-based and help individuals develop new skills and ways of thinking to help mitigate the effects of anxiety and depression, enhance communication skills, improve interpersonal relationships, and foster self-esteem. Ultimately, the aim is to help you elevate the overall quality of your life.
I use an integrative counselling approach, drawing on my diverse background and expertise to create a therapeutic experience tailored to your individual needs and counselling objectives.
My primary therapeutic framework is grounded in various cognitive therapies:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). This is a type of talk therapy that can help you understand how your thoughts affect your emotions and behaviours.
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). This is a form of CBT that focuses on helping people accept the reality of their lives and their behaviours, as well as helping them learn to change their lives, including their unhelpful behaviours.
- Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT). This is another form of CBT that focuses on helping you identify self-defeating thoughts and feelings, challenge the nature of irrational and unproductive thoughts, and replace them with healthier, more productive beliefs.
- Narrative Therapy. This therapeutic approach helps individuals become and embrace experts in their own lives.
