About Me
Jim Mason
Counselling Therapist
MA, ICADC, CCAC, CCS-AC
I am a registered Counselling Therapist and Addiction Counsellor with a Masters in Psychology.
I provide personalized, evidence-based counselling therapy delivered in a compassionate and supportive manner. Clients can expect to engage with an empathetic listener who is committed to understanding their unique experiences and the various factors that have influenced their identity.
My therapeutic approach is centered on facilitating the development of new coping strategies, mitigating the effects of anxiety and depression, enhancing communication skills, improving interpersonal relationships, and fostering self-esteem. Ultimately, the aim is to help you elevate the overall quality of your life.
I utilize an integrative counselling approach, drawing upon my diverse background and expertise to create a therapeutic experience that is specifically tailored to meet your individual needs and counselling objectives. My primary therapeutic framework is grounded in various cognitive therapies:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). This is a type of talk therapy that can help you understand how your thoughts affect your emotions and behaviours.
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). This is a form of CBT that focuses on helping people accept the reality of their lives and their behaviours, as well as helping them learn to change their lives, including their unhelpful behaviours.
- Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT). This is another form of CBT that focuses on helping you identify self-defeating thoughts and feelings, challenge the nature of irrational and unproductive thoughts, and replace them with healthier, more productive beliefs.
- Narrative Therapy. This therapeutic approach helps individuals become and embrace experts in their own lives.
