Relationship Therapy

No matter what your relationship looks like — be it family, couple, throuple, or pod — relationship therapy can serve as a highly beneficial resource at any stage of your shared journey.  Working together, we will explore the challenges you face, work to help you develop stronger communication skills, and cultivate healthier interactions.

Relationship therapy isn’t just for times of struggle; even in loving and harmonious relationships, relationship therapy offers an opportunity to enhance communication and deepen your connection.  This therapeutic journey not only promotes personal growth but also fosters deeper emotional bonds, ultimately leading to more fulfilling relationships.

To begin this journey, a general awareness of the areas you want to enhance, a willingness to embrace new experiences, and an open mindset are all you need.

Areas of Focus Include:
  • Conflict
  • Communication Issues
  • Divorce & Separation
  • Emotional Expression
  • Problem Gambling
  • Infidelity
  • Life Transitions
  • Non-monogamy (EHN / Poly)
  • Substance Abuse
What happens in relationship therapy?

Relationship therapy typically involves sessions in which all partners are present. Often, the process begins with an initial session attended by all partners.  Then each partner attends a personal session. The point of this session is not to keep secrets from each other. But to provide a space for each of you to talk without concerns about filtering information for your partner.

After completing these personal sessions, the therapy continues with joint sessions that include all partners.  Occasionally, as needed, additional personal sessions may occur.

What if our whole family, throuple, or pod needs help?

Relationship Therapy is based on family systems theory.  In other words, the family, thruple, or pod is a system, a single unit in which the members act and react to one another.  If one part is not functioning properly, the other parts will be affected.  If all parts are working well, the system will be at optimum performance.

As a unit and individually, we’ll work together to assess both surface and underlying issues within the system that may be contributing to the conflict or distress, and develop interventions that can help improve the relationships’ overall well-being.

Can therapy save my relationship?

While relationship therapy has the potential to achieve a noticeably positive impact on your relationship, relationship therapy is an investment, not a guarantee.

Since you have no control over your partner’s willingness or intent within your relationship, you cannot determine the outcome. Additionally, variables can sometimes impact progress, such as the readiness of each person to work through issues.

Length of therapy

The duration of therapy can vary significantly based on your unique circumstances and goals.

It’s completely understandable to want to know how long it may take to start feeling better. However, it’s essential to remember that there is no one-size-fits-all answer.

Each journey is unique, and it’s perfectly fine to take the time you need.
